I remember when I was still going to college that we did help in cleaning a lake, picking up the liters even if we aren’t the ones who throw them in. Any of you guys have done this already?

We clean up around our community once a month through different churches. Before this there was a river which passes near by and the people whole sell vegetables nearby used to dump the waste near the river so it got a bit polluted. The church leaders mobilized the worshipers to a clean up exercise and of course warned the vendors. it worked because now the river is clean and free from pollution.

I also remember picking up some garbage in a certain community before as part of our project or activity at school.
I had never experienced joining a group cleaning up lake or rivers here. I think it is better to punish/control those who throw garbage on waters since it will be just useless for several people concern to clean it and then a lot more are making it dirty and polluted. And sadly that the usual pollutants are the people residing around that water while people cleaning it are not even residing near the place. a more long term plan and action should be done for it.

We clean up beaches around my area from time to time. We do the same thing your talking about. Just picking litter, bottles, etc...

Yeah I've done this too as a girl scout when I was in elementary. It's fun and you get to help the environment too. Though I admit I haven't done so in many years after that as I now live in the city where the rivers are dark like brown/black in color and people living on the riverside are responsible for throwing all their garbage in the water.

I knew organizations for this great cause exist. For those who are not familiar with a group and wanted to join, here's an added link for you. I'm happy to inform that they exert brilliant effort all over the globe.
