There are plenty of ways you can help the environment with very little work or change on your part. Here are 10 ways I have found to help make a difference.

1- Conserve Energy in your home. Turn off unnecessary lights, cooks less frequently, don't leave TV, stereo one when you are not in the room.

2- Lower the thermostat on your water heater

3- Replace air filters monthly

4- Clean lint filter in dryer after every use

5- Wash clothing in warm or cold water instead of hot

6- Unplug appliance that are not used often

7- Use compact fluorescent light bulbs

8- Keep thermostat higher in the summer and lower in the winter

9- Plant trees to shade your home

10- buy rechargeable batteries for items you use frequently

This is just a few of the hundreds of things you can do now. Please feel free to continue adding to this.

I have saved in a great way on electric consumption by putting many of these things in to effect. It is important to me to do be able to save especially now when the economy is down and being able to do these things would benefit anyone who needs to save a few bucks while helping the environment.

If you have the money to buy LCD monitors then replace them with crt monitors with it since I is consuming less power than the old monitor.

There is a product in the UK that resembles a 4 way power adapter but has a little IR sensor, essential any items plugged into it turn off completely when you press standby on on your item, your tv for example (32" LCD) will use 20w in standby and 100w when switched on, this device detects it is on standby and actually cuts all power to to. All controlled by your standard IR tv remote

I'll see if I can find a link
