This is one man that I really admire, putting aside that ungentlemanly remark, he made about Obama during the 2008 campaign. He has reinvented himself and is doing tremendous work, in so many areas. Amazing effort doing good work.. Thanks for the links.

I wasn't crazy about his administration, but I agree that he has re-invented himself nicely. He's following in the footsteps on Jimmy Carter.

I like what he's doing to combat childhood obesity. Lots of people are talking about it, but he seems to be translating words into action. The initiative seems to have struck a chord with the people it's aimed at as well, which is always a good thing. It's nice to see him using the contacts he made in office for the good of the American public, rather than ti line his own pockets.

His foundation negotiations are one thing to be admired for sure. His organization had the prices lowered on
aids medications so more women and children would be saved.
They were also able to negotiate lower seed prices for farmers, so they could plant more=feed more.

He said on Ellen's show recently too, that Hillary does a lot of that too behind the scenes when she's
got some off time from "official" secretary of state duties.

The Clintons have done some admirable work and have rebounded nicely from the scandal. I thought he was a pretty good president and am voting for Obama again because the Clintons back him up.

The Clinton foundation is doing great work all over the world. The Climate Initiative, Low Carbon Transportation, Waste Management, Reforestation, Climate Change Knowledge programs are all making a difference not only here but also around the world.

Yet it’s the global health initiative with diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis that is saving thousands of lives and making the biggest difference around the world.  Just goes to show how 1 person can make a real difference.

And let us not forget all the work Jimmy Carter has done also including building houses with Habitat for Humanity and other things but by far the Cinton foundation has really done a lot. As far as George Bush Jr. Well there just is not anything I can think of hummmm maybe it's good he has just seemed to fade away.

I have to give credit to W, for the one thing that I respect him for and that was to give $15 billion dollars to Africa, to help fight the Aids epidemic. That was very generous of him.The African people praise him as well. His one legacy.

When did he do that? Do you have a link?

One of the things a former president can do is build on the ties that made while president and use those ties to further good in the world. Clinton has built on those ties and done wonderful things through his foundation. Carter left as a lackluster president.  But, what he has achieved with Habitat for Humanity is nothing short of remarkable.  He showed us that you can change lives one at a time.

Bush Sr. has done his share of good deeds.  He was a partner with Clinton in the recovery efforts after the earthquake in Haiti.

I had not heard of that donation that George W. Bush had made.  For the most part, he seems to have disappeared after his presidency.

I sometimes wonder if it must seem freeing to leave the presidency.  You have prestige, liaisons, and money.  You can then do the things that your hands were tied on when you were president.

I haven't heard about this donation either. Do you have any additional information about it?

Edit: I did a cursory search for George W and AIDS. This is what I found.

From here:
http://www.slate.com...a_stop_by_.html

In what many see as Bush’s greatest achievement while in the White House, he created the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief  (PEPFAR) in 2003 and also backed the newly formed Global Fund To Fight AIDS. This organization negotiates lower prices for AIDS drugs among other things.

President Clinton has always been one heck of a politician and I'm glad that he has been on my side more often than not, even though he presided over some legislation that I will never agree with.  I will never idolize a politician because what they do is not meant to be idolized.  The good politicians are horsetraders, gamblers and powerbrokers and that means they would very seldom be considered good wholesome people.  If we want them to be effective, they should not be wholesome people, because wholesome, morally upstanding people do not become powerful enough in politics to get anything done.  Some of the most morally upstanding people I know of in Congress (state and federal), are not very productive because they will not compromise their morals.  They will not wheel and deal in order to gather owed favors or gain an upper hand against another politician or group and this means they cannot become powerful within Congress.

Many of the best (most effective, good or bad) politicians are great at having a wholesome facade for the cameras, but behind closed doors are as nice or mean as they need to be to get stuff done.  They will be brutal or diplomatic as it suits them in order to get their way.

I think this is what's missing from many of the new Congresscritters in DC now.  They have no political skills, but are only good at growling, snarling and foaming at the mouth on cue.  The bad thing is that they have hundreds of millions of dollars behind them giving them an elevated sense of rightousness but no sense of anything around them.

Clinton was one of the effective politicians (maybe one of the last effective politicians) and I will always (always) want an effective politician in office even if I don't agree with them all the time, rather than someone who cannot control the game and ends up being a pawn with a good heart and in tact morals.

Now that the elections are over, Bill Clinton is refocusing his efforts on health care and partnering
with large companies to meet that goal. Verizon, GE, NBC Universal to name a few.

As an example, rural doctors can use Verizon to send data to hospitals; x-ray's and other data for speedier
service to the patient.

Story here.
