The Tote Bags are great.  I would never have thought of using the film in the cassette for yarn.  I get old VHS movies from the library and Goodwill Store at a good price, so I have a few sitting around.  I doubt I will make Tote Bags, they will either go back to the Goodwill or Freecycle.

You can use VHS tape as curling ribbon for wrapping gifts. In the book Simply Green Giving by Danny Seo, he said he was so in love with using VHS tape as curling ribbon that he actually ran out of tapes and started going to yard sales to find more. Unlike some of the other crafts with VHS tape, anyone at any skill level can curl some VHS tape with scissors.

Many e-waste recycling programs across the country will actually recycle VHS tapes as well. It may take a few searches and phone calls but there may be someone in you area and ask if they accept VHS tapes because their policies are changing all the time. Maybe this will help you http://www.actenviro.com/
