WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Obama administration proposed on Tuesday the first rules to cut carbon dioxide emissions from new U.S. power plants, a move hotly contested by Republicans and industry in an election year.

The Environmental Protection Agency's proposal would effectively stop the building of most new coal-fired plants in an industry that is moving rapidly to more natural gas.  But the rules will not regulate existing power plants, the source of one third of U.S. emissions, and will not apply to any plants that start construction over the next 12 months.  Read the rest of the story at the following

Personally, All I can say is, it’s about damn time.  Yes, the proposal is not as strict as many have called for but by requiring emission standards on par with natural gas power plants it’s at least a start.  Of course getting it passed in an election year is probably impossible but look for the EPA to act if Congress does not.

By the way, for all the nay Sayers out there, I think this shows President Obama is finally paying attention to the science of climate change and is drawing a governmental line in the sand on Coal fired power plants.

Folks,  imagine a country with no more coal powered electricity, some plants will hang on due to loopholes, but this and the 106 coal fired plants that have closed in the last 6 years shows that the dirty coal message is getting out there and we members and supporters of the Beyond Coal Project should take a moment and do a happy dance.

Excuse me I am going to join them, play the music boys, let’s get down, happy dance, happy dance, happy dance.  Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image   Ok back to work changing the world- go alt energy.  Posted Image  Save water and the earth and stop fracking.- Some of my other missions.

Obama can do little bits and pieces on his own but until we get the baggers out of the congress in November,
nothing will get done, period. Let alone anything that would protect us from emissions.

But they've also rigged the voting system; making it more difficult for seniors, students, Hispanics
and lower income voters to vote, which usually vote Democratic.
Talk about stuffing the ballot box.

I was thinking about that today. That is a good thing about the emissions, and the reduction. People keep talking about a close election, and I am thinking that the only way that happens is, if they subvert the voting process and keep people from voting. To take away those wantmg to vote for Obama. He leads Romney now with women by 25%, Latinos by some 20%, blacks will go whole hog, 98%, white men, maybe he'll get 12%, so if voting were fair, it would not be a close election.

"During the 2011 legislative sessions, states across the country passed measures to make it harder for Americans –
particularly African-Americans, the elderly, students and people with disabilities –
to exercise their fundamental right to cast a ballot.

Over 30 states considered laws that would require voters to present government-issued photo ID in order to vote.
Studies suggest that up to 11 percent of American citizens lack such ID, and would be required to navigate t
he administrative burdens to obtain it or forego the right to vote entirely.

3 additional states passed laws to require documentary proof of citizenship in order to register to vote,
though as many as 7 percent of American citizens do not have such proof.
7 states shortened early voting time frames, even though over 30 percent of all votes cast in the 2008 general election were cast before Election Day.
2  state legislatures voted to repeal Election Day registration laws, though Election Day registration
increases voter turnout by 10-12 percent.
Finally, 2 states passed legislation making it much more difficult for third-party organizations to register voters –
so difficult, in fact, that some voter registration organizations are leaving the states altogether."

(Sorry E3 Wise, that took the thread off topic, but I wanted everyone to know that governments can't
be changed, and environmental issues cannot be dealt with if we cannot vote for the people that care about
our issues.)
It's all connected.

If a GOP candidate is elected in November, it is my firm belief that things in the country will regress totally. They will change as much as they can toward giving the rich more, reduce regulations, and reverse anything that helps the people have better and healthier lives. I can only hope that people understand what the outcome will be, if such a thing happens. The EPA will be the first to fall. Cheers.

If a gop candidate is elected in November-the Mayans and Nostradamus will be proven right-
"it's the end of the world as we know it."

More good news on energy savings-
"As part of President Obama’s initiative to make America a magnet for jobs by building a 21st century infrastructure,
today (6/7/13) he signed a Presidential Memorandum that will speed the modernization of the nation’s electric grid.
This will help make electricity more reliable, save consumers money on their energy bills, and support homegrown American clean energy jobs and industries by making renewable energy easier to access across the country."

And-
"Thanks in part to the Obama Administration’s investment in clean energy – the largest in American history –
the United States has nearly doubled renewable energy generation from wind, solar, and geothermal sources since 2008.
In fact, last year, according to industry experts, the United States reclaimed the title as the world’s leading investor in clean energy
technologies, besting countries like China, India, and Germany."

The US, still has it's work cut out for us.
. . . China Becomes The First To Hit The 3 GW Solar Milestone
China has surpassed the 3 GW (3,000 MW) milestone for utility-scale solar power production capacity.
. . . It’s the first country to do so and is sitting pretty at the top of the utility-scale solar rankings.
the top 5 countries for utility-scale solar (and their capacities) are:
. . . China (3.137 GW)
. . . Germany (2.896 GW)
. . . US (2.895 GW)
. . . India (1.19 GW)
. . . Spain (1.151 GW)

Gina McCarthy, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency,
. . . has new regulations proposing "emissions per megawatt hour limited" to:
. . . . . . 1,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, on new gas-fired power plants and
. . . . . . 1,100 pounds of carbon dioxide, on new coal plants.
