As horrible as we think kfc is in the states, it's preferred eating in China.
Why, you ask?
A Chinese man was a guest on Dylan Ratigan show, and he made the audience aware, that yes,
kfc may be unhealthy for your heart, but it (and mc's/pizza hut-etc) is
regulated (by the USA for export) for the quality of
the product, the shipping temperatures, etc.
He said that many local restaurants use old, spoiled cooking oil for instance. They skim off the
mold and still use it. Or moldy rice.

There aren't any food regulations set up in China via the government, and no standards.
When they eat "American" food, they know it's safe, because the standards are there from the get.
Ironic huh?
