Mariaandrea,
Your comment on the baby blanket made me giggle! I know if I do not plan now, including what to make, for whom, and block the time out now on a calendar, I will keep putting it off until it's too late and I will end up spending $$$ on something I didn't want to give. This includes baking supplies, jars, etc, so I am ready for everything (including baking) and have all shopping and gifts made by Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is early in 2012 too! It is on November, 22, 2012.

I have a drawer full of collected jars and tin containers I save year round for crafts! I think the calendar idea is brilliant and I'm going to adopt that. Thanks! I'll be making gifts, but I also make jewelry and other craft items that I sell once in a while, and want to make more, so I think it's going to take some serious planning. Especially since I need to get some things done by the beginning of summer for the craft fairs.

......Contact the elected officials in your city and/or state and demand action on the issues that are important to you. Our government is by the people and for the people, but the people sometimes forget that because some of the politicians would rather not have us remember that.

It suits the politicians or shall we say the politicians realize pretty well that people do really not care to get back to ther elected representatives once they have done their job: cast their votes. If every one becomes demanding of their legitimate rights, can the politicians afford overlooking? Nah, we are either cynical, indifferent or scared. Its time we started overcoming these inhibitions and got aggressive with our rights.

I’m actually planning to learn quilting or sewing because I wish to sew blankets, pillowcases, bags, etc. from our many old garments, sack and clothing. After the typhoon that hits the Philippines last December, I thought of making useful stuffs to donate for those who lost their things. I also hope to learn trash art recycling or recycling crafts to promote upcycling.

That's one of the issues that #OWS is talking about. Keeping the pressure on with staying vocal.

My daughter spent 18 months crocheting me a potholder!!  But she never gave up, no matter how busy she was, so I was so thrilled to see it this Christmas!!  My other daughter rescues 5-gallon food-grade containers from the pizza place in town, and I have built up quite a full pantry of flour, sugar and homemade baking mix in those sealed buckets.  She's brought home about a dozen huge commercial pickle jars, too, and our plan is to make fruit wine in them, and give that as gifts next year.  Hence, the need to plan our u-pick trips to coincide with cool weather.  We missed cherry season practically entirely this year, and cherry wine is a family favorite!

These are great ideas!  We still need to figure out how to thread the needle on our "new" antique treadle sewing machine, and then we are hoping to do much the same!  I've got boxes of quilting quares already made, hand-sewn and just waiting for a machine to help me put them together!!  Trash art recycling is a great idea!

I'm planning (resolving to I guess) start planting trees on my property. I have plans to grow a bunch of willow this year to start replanting some moist areas on the property that really usable for anything else. I've been thinking about it, and talking about for way too long, so time to at least get started!
