Here are a few facts about save water-save the environment:
# With about two thirds of earth's surface covered by water, only 1% is fresh water; of this, less than 0.007% alone is fit for consumption [potable]
# A dripping tap wastes about 8 liters of water per day; this is enough water for a person to bathe
# 1.5 billion people do not have access to safe drinking water; another 1.1 billion do not get sufficient water

I'm not sure that the whole 'football fields per day" thing is quite accurate.

This is either off topic, or you posted in the wrong thread.
Actually it is very much on topic and relates to the 'fact' that was in the very first post that said "Over 1,000 birds a year die from smashing into windows."

Thank you, thank you!! I adjusted my post of the "fact" to per day cuz I just couldn't believe the per minute statement that I had read. Just goes to show that one can't always believe everything they read. I am very glad to read that we haven't done as much damage as some would want the masses to believe. The idea of football field sections of rainforest disappearing (per minute OR daily) just seems ludicrous as it would add up to way more land than there actually is. Like I said, thank you for the enlightenment! ;o)~

No, one of the facts was about birds that die per year by hitting windows if I rcall correctly.
You are correct, that fact was included & you are not off topic! ;o)~

Informative especially the one about in house plants poisoning children. The plants look so harmless and beautiful such that they invite you to take them in the house. Now I will be more careful about any plant that is in or near my house. Its sad to harm your kids without knowing.

I grew up on a farm and can attest to the unbelievable amount of land out there. Too bad genetically engineered crops (bigger yields) and nitrogen are being used. There are a few farmers out there trying to make it with organic, but its a tough route to go.
