Another consequence of climate change? It's messing with carbon dating.

"Fossil fuels that humans are burning and the subsequent carbon dioxide
they are releasing, will skew the radiocarbon age of any new organic material created today."

Article via The Smithsonian-

Not news.  That Smithsonian stuff is included in the Wikipedia entry for radiocarbon dating.  Maybe the PNAS article that the Smithsonian article mentions does have news though, can't tell.  Actually, radiocarbon dating of modern stuff was messed up in the 1960's because of atmospheric testing of nuclear bombs that put a bunch of extra carbon-14 into the atmosphere.

Sockeye salmon can't deal with warm river waters and are dying in record numbers.
"Out of the more than 507,000 salmon that have passed through the Bonneville Dam,
some 235,000 have died —
a number that Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fisheries manager John North told Reuters is unprecedented."

Why post this here?
Because climate change is warming all waters; not just the oceans.

Also, with warmer waters, more nasties (pathogens, viruses and bacteria) become more effective.

President Obama get's it.
Part of his speech recently on climate change:

"If we were to abandon our course of action, if we stop trying to build a clean-energy economy and reduce carbon pollution,
if we do nothing to keep the glaciers from melting faster, and oceans from rising faster,
and forests from burning faster, and storms from growing stronger,
we will condemn our children to a planet beyond their capacity to repair:
Submerged countries.
Abandoned cities.
Fields no longer growing.
Indigenous peoples who can’t carry out traditions that stretch back millennia.
Entire industries of people who can’t practice their livelihoods.
Desperate refugees seeking the sanctuary of nations not their own. Political disruptions that could trigger multiple conflicts around the globe."

Since the amount of sunlight hitting our ever hotter world will remain the same as climate change proceeds, the notion of needing to manufacture more sunscreen seems silly.  That a Republican might think otherwise is really believable though.

We all associate (or should, if we're not deniers) that the drought caused by climate change is making
the wildfires on the West coast worse; but we should also acknowledge that the beetle infestation
(caused by shorter winters; milder temperatures-giving them a longer life span) is also caused by
climate change.
The trees in the area have suffered a double blow; death by beetle and drought. Even with the proper
amount of rain, they may have died anyway from the insects.

A snippet from an NPR article-
"Fire managers here are telling me that every time firefighters think they've started to
turn a corner, the hot, windy weather picks back up and the fire starts spotting
and burning through beetle-killed trees."

The summer of 2015 is Earth's hottest on record.

The meteorological summer of June-July-August,
. . . saw its highest globally averaged temperature since records began in 1880,
. . . the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported.

Not to worry; as soon as the numbers come in, 2016 will be the hottest-
then 2017, 2018, 2019...........................
while the oil barons keep their congressional puppets in line; we're cooking our planet.

In NH,
. . . we haven't turned on the air conditioner at all,
. . . for the 2nd year in a row, rainfall has keep it cool enough,
. . . to allow us to get by, with just using ceiling fans.

We're set to breach the 1 degree Celsius mark for global warming according to studies.
El Nino is part of it but they're calling it "uncharted territory"

"The world would then be half way towards 2C, the gateway to dangerous warming."

Well I suppose you could say that with climate change; you don't have to travel far to witness it's effects.
California's burning, northern Texas has blizzard conditions, southern Texas got hit by tornadoes,
farther east-more tornadoes and massive flooding.
For the naysayers, they'll say- "Oh it's just weather"
Yeah but here's the thing; year after year after year..........and getting worse.
http://www.weather.c...as-texas-plains

And to think that we had the warmest Christmas on record .........oh wait, that's just weather too, right?

How hot was November? NASA reports,
. . . a full 0.25°C (0.45°F) warmer than the warmest November on record.

NASA temperature map on top shows, parts of the Arctic and Siberian permafrost,
..  . were a staggering 10.2°C (18°F!) warmer than normal.
That is particularly troubling since the permafrost contains twice as much carbon as the atmosphere,
. . . as it defrosts, it releases that carbon in the form of either CO2 or methane (CH4),
. . . which is 84 more times more potent at trapping heat than CO2 over a 20-year period.

What we often forget; climate change affects animals as well.

Sadly, 15,000 dairy cows died during the recent blizzard in Texas.
(And yes I know that blizzards are a "weather" event; so don't remind me about weather/climate)
